Scoop by Liz H.

Long time JSP contributer Liz H. spotted a tidbit about the Canadian short film "Flip Phone" that Jessica was in becoming a possible series. The mention was in a bio on the ACTRA Toronto website for Hayley Tyson who wrote and produced "Flip Phone." Here is an excerpt from the bio...

...The success of Germgirl was followed up this year by Flip Phone (2004) Written and Produced by Hayley and starring Kathryn Greenwood, Jessica Steen and Hayley Tyson. In a short period of time Flip Phone has become one of the most popular shorts to be shown on CBC Zed TV, was called ‘a highlight of Monday night television' by the Globe and Mail and was acquired by the prestigious Channel 4 in the UK as one of its' rare short film purchases. The overwhelming reaction to the three characters in Flip Phone has spawn interest in a six-part series entitled North of Lawrence, Written and Co-produced by Hayley.

Jessica Mentioned in TV Zone Magazine [11:25 PM ET]
Scoop by Doike

In the new special Stargate issue of TV ZONE #55, there is an interview with Stargate SG-1 actor Michael Shanks. In the interview Michael mentions a scene from "The Lost City" that he did with Jessica...

At the moment there is a knock at the door and both actors (CJ and MS) are called away to pose for yet more photos. Shanks is the first back to the trailer and takes a few moments to discuss his approach to playing Daniel Jackson after a year´s respite from the role.

MS: The start of the season was very much of a reintroduction of my character into the series and there were those moments when you saw a slight difference and a determination with Daniel. There´s one defining scene that I believe illustrates nicely where he´s ended up and it´s with Jessica Steen in LOST CITY. She plays Dr. Weir, who is the SGC´s new commander in this particular episode. Jessica is a really strong actress and wonderful to play off of. I wasn´t really expecting the way she approached her role and it was fantastic as well as enlightening because it gave me a great place to take Daniel. In this scene, she demonstrates what seems to be the old enthusiasm and naivete that Daniel had when he first joined the Stargate program. Daniel cautions Dr. Weir that you can´t always look at the world through rose coloured glasses. There are dangers out there in the universe and people who aren´t willing to negotiate and compromise. Sometimes it´s necessary to take up arms and fight and battles, which is what makes Stargate Program so important. Suddenly, my character is defending the military point of view. This demonstrates that he´s learnt to be more guarded with his altruistic approach to things given his experiences over the past seven years. That´s a big leap for him."
